Mazda cx-30 Review
The Mazda CX-30 is in the 3rd episode of the series review of the C-segment crossover SUV.
Mazda is a brand, they always have the most luxurious thing with customers on a low budget. They make one of the most beautiful and luxurious Japanese cars in the segment, again at the lowest price. Whether sedans or SUVs, Mazda cars are always the cheapest in any segment than any other option in Japan. Example -> Where the price of 2017 model Primio / Eleon is 26 lakh rupees, whereas the price of 2017 model Mazda Accelerator is 22 lakh rupees!
But in the meantime, Axilla is more fun and comfortable to ride than Primio / Elion, with less Axilla oil, more powerful, and full of the latest technology like German cars. However, the CX-30 is no exception. Personally, my favorite car in this C-segment is the CX-30. But so say nowhere in this post but find the partiality! Anyway, at least I didn’t go down without explaining myself first.
Engine options of CX-30 are 3: –
1) 1600 cc diesel;
2) 2000 cc non-hybrid octane;
3) 2000 cc mild-hybrid octane engine.
However, reconditioned Harrier hybrids are available in our country at the same price as buying non-hybrid brand new 1800cc and 2000cc brands. So here I will just say the price of the mild-hybrid. Since the car started selling in Japan in October 2019, the reconditioned unit of the car can be easily brought to Bangladesh from 2023. Then the price will be around 45 lakhs. Today I will also give a review of the mild hybrid variant.
Like all other Mazda cars, the CX-30 looks very sporty. Smaller than the Japanese options in this segment in length and height, but keep in mind that sporty cars are but a little smaller. Thin shaped lights on the front and back, a nickel bit from the headlights and a border on the bottom half of the grill. The back is quite curvy, which looks like the rear body shape of a 2021 model Harrier. There is a dual-tip stainless steel silencer muffler, which sporty the rear look of the car. One big flaw is the black bodykit all around the car, which gives the car a slightly cheaper look.
A nice feature is that the indicator lights, like all normal cars, turn on at once and do not turn off in an instant, increasing the brightness little by little, then dimming the brightness little by little. This is how the indicator burns every time. The 4WD model has a headlight washer so that if someone gets off-roading and the clay gets stuck in the headlight, the headlight can be cleaned with this injector. The part of the body above the front wheel, called the fender, has “SkyActiv-X” written on it; And on the back right there is a badge with “e-SkyActiv X” written on it. Each trim of the car has 16 ”size wheels, which is quite standard to look at
In the interior, the CX-30 is undoubtedly the most luxurious of the Japanese cars in this segment. Mazda offers the option to choose between white and black in each trim, and the highest trim “100th Anniversary Special” has a maroon red seat. Each trim has a power seat and a heated seat. The Nissan Kashkai and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross do not have rear AC vents, but like the Toyota Corolla Cross, the Mazda CX-30 has AC in the back row.
While the world now allows a simple AC to run through a touchscreen for ultra-modern looks, Mazda has provided simple buttons and digital displays to do just that. Mazda said the reason for doing so was that they could not risk the driver’s attention in any way by immersing themselves in ultra-modernity. And that’s why as many Mazda as there are in 2017, their CD player screen has two dial systems like normal Touch and Audi, but since 2019 they have removed touch control from the screen in all cars, from now on this screen with only the dials and buttons on the back of the gear lever. Can be controlled.
But one flaw is, if someone sitting next to the driver wants to turn something on this screen, he has to pick up a lot of speed. Because, first turn the screen towards the driver, so it will be a little difficult to see the screen from the side seat. Second, since there is no touch option on the screen, he has to control it by turning it with this dial which is quite annoying.
The Mazda CX-30 has a 2000 cc 4-cylinder mild-hybrid engine with 16 horsepower and 224 Nm of torque. Front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive are both available, and the gearbox is also available in 2 types: – 1) 8-gear manual transmission, 2) 8-gear automatic transmission. One problem here is that since the car is 2000 cc, the amount of AIT will be Rs 50,000 per year. The fuel parameter of the car is mentioned in the next paragraph.
The engine of the variant of this car that we are reviewing now is called SkyActiv-X. Now, the Mazda gasoline octane-powered engine is called SkyActiv-G and the diesel-powered engine is called SkyActiv-D. So why is this engine named “X”? Because, this engine is a strange invention of Mazda, in which the working process of both octane engine and diesel engine has been coordinated. In general, the fuel economy of a diesel engine is always very good, because the diesel engine has more air inlet and less oil.
But even when less oil enters the cylinder, when the piston rises due to more air, the oil-air mixture explodes on its own under extreme heat and pressure, leaving no need for spark plugs. This system is called ‘compression ignition. But the amount of oil and air poured into the cylinder in the octane engine requires a spark plug to explode. This system is called ‘spark ignition. What Mazda has done now is to combine the good aspects of these two systems into one new system called ‘Spark-Controlled Compression Ignition’.
Here’s what happens: – Like a diesel engine, more air enters the cylinder than octane, and when it does, the spark plug emits a very small spark of fire, much less than a fire that can explode in a normal engine; But this small fire causes the oil-air mixture to become extremely hot like diesel, causing the piston to rise and explode on its own like a diesel engine. The result? 30% more fuel economy and 10% more power than any ordinary octane-powered non-hybrid engine.
Now the engine is giving 30% more fuel economy without the help of any hybrid system, on top of that Mazda has given the car a mild-hybrid system to increase the fuel economy. Mild-hybrid batteries are much smaller than ordinary hybrid cars; And in a normal hybrid, the battery that drives a car doesn’t come in a mild-hybrid. So how does mild-hybrid oil save? A non-hybrid car has a battery to run the AC, turn on the headlight-taillights, turn on the lights in the car’s interior and run the CD player, and this battery is the source of the ignition power to start the car’s engine.
But this battery takes charge from the oil engine, and in order to supply the charge, the engine has to generate energy by burning oil. Now, everything in the Mild-Hybrid is the same as in the Non-Hybrid, but the battery charge doesn’t come from the engine, it comes from the heat generated in the brakes as a result of braking. As a result, the engine does not have to burn excess oil to charge the battery. So if you run the AC and turn on the headlights, the oil will not burn, and if you stand in a jam with the power from this battery, the car engine will be stopped without wasting oil. All in all, the car will give fuel economy around 12 km/liter in Dhaka city. On top of that, even if it is a mild-hybrid, the import tax of the car will be the same as all other hybrid cars, which is much lower than non-hybrid.
Like all Mazdars, driving and riding the car is quite fun. Like Accelerator, it has very low body roll, which gives confidence in the corner. As the speed increases, the steering becomes heavier on its own, so it can be rotated with the finger at low speeds, while at high speeds it will be harder to keep the control in the palm of the hand. The suspension is torsion beams like the McPherson Straits at the front and the Toyota Corolla Cross at the rear. The torsion beam has a little less comfort, and if the road gets worse, it will feel a little uncomfortable like the Corolla Cross. In this case Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is ahead with multi-link suspension.
Finally, our opinion. The car is undoubtedly very good. The interior is very luxurious, fun to drive from the driver’s point of view, and the engine is very powerful and fuel efficient. But will we suggest to take the car if the car is available at 40-45 lakh rupees from 2023? No. Because, in our country, everyone is crying about Mazdar parts, it will be very tough to get the parts of this new generation engine in our country. At this price, the Nissan X-Trail Hybrid is a much better choice, and in this segment, if the budget is increased a little more, the Toyota Corolla Cross will be available which will have better fuel economy and more available parts due to Prius having the same engine
